UX/UI Designer
Manufacturers and distributors struggle with inventory visibility in store creating out-of-stock problems. Simultaneously, retailers struggle keeping up with inventory because of manual or outdated systems.
In collaboration with Tactiq Sr. Product Designer Stephen Barbuto, my role as a UX/UI designer was to implement requirements and user flows and adapt them for tablet and desktop use. I participated in the brainstorming sessions for the refinments of current features.
The Alert Creation feature is a mobile web first application to be used on an inventory scanning device. The scanning of product barcodes will allow for fast and efficient inventory management. There also opportunity to manually add inventory, though there are limitation to what is provided on the desktop version versus the tablet/mobile version.
Along side the Sr. Product Designer, we were able to create high-fidelity prototypes and introduced a uniform system of components that can be adapted to the different distributor needs.
With the support of the product manager we were able to gain valuable insights from stakeholders that could help improve current features. The collaborative effort also lead to the introduction of a scanning API that would allow users to scan items with a mobile phone, in the event a scanning device is not available.
My primany focus is the design of the tablet and desktop version of the Alert Creation feature. Initial iterations were made on mobile, which I then adapted to tablet and desktop respectively.
The desktop version consists a flow that is different from tablet/mobile. As the tablet/mobile have a scanning feature, the desktop version does not giving importance to the ability to manually create items. Though, in the desktop version they are able to access analytics.
I was very fortunate to work along side a team who were passionate about the platforms that they were building. Understanding the company is making a tremendous effort in being the leader in their industry there was a sense of pride completing this project. The collaborative efforts between myself and the Sr. Product Designer was immensely supportive.
